GENERATIVE AI POLICY

Jason Nyquist, Founder of World Tree

Last Edited: September 19th, 2024

This policy reflects World Tree’s commitment to engaging players and partners to ensure that all voices are heard as we navigate the evolving landscape of generative AI together in partnership with the community.

It is our intent to provide clear guidelines on the acceptable use of this technology on the platform and the consequences for violating those guidelines as they currently stand.

This document is also a call for you to engage with us as we shape World Tree’s policies together going forward. We have created an evergreen form for you to let us know exactly what you think about these topics and how they personally affect you. Click the link below to contribute:

For Players

When adding content to the platform, users will be prompted to identify their content as AI generated or not.

Content marked as AI generated can be used on that user’s characters and campaigns only. It cannot be published for general consumption, and as such, it will not earn revenue.

Users who are suspected of marking AI-generated content as non-AI may be requested to provide a written statement and/or submit proof of the content’s authenticity. The misrepresentation of AI-generated content as non-AI may be grounds for content removal and account review, suspension, and/or termination.

For Partners

We hold ourselves and our partners to the highest standards. Toward those ends, we are refusing partnership with any publisher or content creator that publishes generative AI content in any form.

If it comes to light that a partner has knowingly submitted AI-generated content to World Tree and falsely represented it as from human artists/creators, World Tree will remove the AI-generated content immediately, and the status of the partnership will be subject to review and/or termination. Additionally, if it comes to light that a partner has unknowingly submitted AI-generated content to World Tree via the false representation of that content as non-AI by a third party, World Tree requests to be notified promptly and will remove the AI-generated content immediately.

For World Tree

Our primary commitment is to the community, human creators, and the protection of your work.

World Tree will not implement AI features to aid users in generating content of any type, nor will we use generative AI in any capacity related to the creation of our own content.

Additionally, World Tree will implement both automatic and manual tools to flag content that potentially violates our community and content guidelines. These tools will allow any user to report content that they suspect to be AI generated.

Most importantly, your content is safe with us. We will not sell your content or let it be used to train generative AI models.

Modifying this Policy

At World Tree, the needs of the community come first. As the landscape of generative AI and its culture of use continue to evolve, we recognize that this policy may need to adapt as well.

We commit to not make any changes to this policy without first actively engaging the community—both our players and our Partners—and sharing the results of that engagement with the community.
